Botanic Garden of Smith CollegeThe gardens encompass 127 acres at Smith College. The Japanese Garden has statuary and a tea hut overlooking a pond. The Rock Garden is home to about 2000 types of alpine, dwarf, and woodland plants. The President's House Garden surrounds a 1920 mansion, and a grassy terrace at the back overlooks Paradise Pond. The Capen Garden is designed as a series of outdoor garden rooms located around a rustic pergola. The Campus Arboretum is spread across Smith College's campus. The Woodland Garden is located has a woodland trail with rhododendron, ferns, and native wildflowers. The Mary Maples Dunn Hillside Garden houses a number of different plants. The Systematic Garden has a large number of plants and flowers arranged to show flower types and growth forms within a given plant family.

DirectionsDirections from 91N: From Interstate 91 northbound, take Exit 18, at the traffic light at the end of the ramp turn left and follow Route 5 north (Pleasant Street) to downtown Northampton. At the first traffic light at the junction with Route 9 (Main Street), take a left (Route 9 west) and proceed up the hill to the Smith campus. At College Lane, opposite Helen Hills Chapel, take a left to Lyman Conservatory.
Directions from 91S: From Interstate 91 southbound, take Exit 20 and follow Routes 5 and 10 south (King Street) to downtown Northampton. At the junction with Route 9 (Main Street), take a right (Route 9 west) and proceed up the hill to the Smith campus. At College Lane, opposite Helen Hills Chapel, take a left to Lyman Conservatory.
